If only Cypress had this problem during the Olympics. Vancouver Island's Mount Washington is having to deal with an unprecedented amount of snow. "Unbelievable. We've never seen this much snow in such a short period of time," says the mountain's Brent Curtain, referring to the three metres of snow which fell in about four days last week, two metres of which fell in a single 24-hour period. There is so much snow at the ski resort near Courtenay, they're having to truck the snow off the mountain.
"It is unheard of. People couldn't either a) get out of their condos b) get into their condos and even if they could get out of their condos, a lot of people couldn't find their cars, because they were buried under three metres of snow," describes Curtain, who says they're looking into compensating those who couldn't get out to ski.
